SELF THERAPY?? – JOURNALING!!

You might have observed in many of the previous articles that I mention journaling as an effective tool to cope with a wide range of issues. And I swear by this practice to make one feel better mentally over a while!

I thought it would be nice to bring out how journaling could better our lives in one article and here I am!

But what exactly is journaling!?

Journaling or diary writing is a practice of recording or writing down all our thoughts, feelings, and emotions that we experience in our daily lives! It is a very popular activity and has been in practice for a very long time.

Everyone needs to know about this wonderful tool for how effectively it can help us deal with our downtimes. Let’s dive right in and explore this art!!!

Journaling can take you on a peaceful mental vacation in the comfort of your room. It can help you identify and acknowledge the problems you are facing and the roots. It could teach you so many things about yourself that you never knew before. It also serves as a safe space to let out your weaknesses and vulnerabilities or deep-rooted pain and traumas that have been bothering you for very long.

It can sow seeds for your healing and sustained wellness!

There’s an endless list of how this activity could benefit us. Take a look at these!!

  • Journaling allows you to have deep, important, and necessary conversations with yourself.
  • Journaling makes for an excellent self-care technique. It’s one of the best ways to refresh yourself after having a long rough day at work.
  • It acts as free therapy! Many therapists and psychologists use journaling therapy to help their clients heal from issues as serious as depression!
  • It has the power to bring so much discipline into our lives and our tasks. It can instantly erase the chaos in our minds and organize our thoughts almost eliminating the tension and stress created by the chaos.
  • It aids and supports our growth and healing process tremendously and motivates us to stay on track.
  • The best part of journaling is that one can closely monitor their progress and make necessary changes to make it as effective as possible that too without any support from any external sources. It makes the entire process and experience hassle-free.

You know sometimes how we face strange bodily pains or even any other issues for that matter and don’t understand the causes for these issues? It’s funny but journaling could also solve such mysteries for us!

It could help track pain and other triggering issues effectively.

What makes it even more wonderful is the fact that it works very well for all age groups!!

Also, one need not resort to journaling only when they feel low or when they are dealing with challenging times! It is an excellent recreational activity and many people do this just to express themselves. It could also aid in improving our writing and literary skills.

Journaling helps us stay connected with our inner selves and constantly ensures our wellbeing.

Pain – Physical or mental, is the cause of suffering and this is a way to eliminate it from our lives!!

Clearly, journaling is one habit that we all need to cultivate in our lives. We would see remarkable changes in ourselves and bring so much peace and serenity into our existence!!

Our parents and grandparents have always had the habit of writing a personal diary which is nothing but a journal and a friend that patiently heard all their inner monologue and helped them feel better!

Today, many of us complain that we don’t have sufficient time to make this a part of our routine. Well, if that’s the case, you could at least write down your feelings on a paper and get them out of your system when you have a hard day.

Some people even suggest you could tear those papers or burn them to ashes to get rid of those negative feelings or to free yourselves from those bitter memories that have been eating you up.

There’re really no hard rules to do this. Do it when you are sad, do it when you are happy. Do it whenever and however you want. Don’t feel bad that you can’t do it regularly. If you do it once in a while, that’s okay too! Let it be a task that helps you feel liberated and free from inner chaos whenever you do it even if it is not so often. Don’t compel, set strict rules, and impose them on yourself.

Ultimately, it’s all about making you feel better!

Once you see that it actually lightens your mood… You’ll make it a part of your routine automatically!!

What are you waiting for!? Grab a pen and a book and lay your path to wellness, unleashing a new you!!

That’s all I have to say for this week. Please share your thoughts and views or your experiences if you already have the habit of journaling in the comments below! I’d love to know all about it!!

Thank you so much for reading through this and I hope you find it helpful!

I’ll see you next Sunday with another article.

Until then…Toodles!!
